| CANON: Nabari no Ou
| NAME: - - - -
| CANON POINT: Right after Hattori leaves the child in Yukimi's care
| AGE: 16
| APPEARANCE:

| CANON HISTORY:
Details of Yoite’s canon history are very sparse.
What is known:
Yoite’s mother died giving birth to him, and it is mentioned that had he been born a girl, his name was meant to be Sora. However, his family, a father and siblings, declared him a monster after the death of his mother and the discovery that Yoite was neither male nor female, but intersex. Calling him “death god” or “shinigami”, they locked him in the basement and pretended he did not exist. His younger brother, Tsukasa, discovered him, and brought him out to play, however was quickly reprimanded by the family, and told to never acknowledge Yoite again.
It is also revealed by a priest that Sora would visit the local church and sit in the back pew, watching the stained glass. He would never speak. Just look at the glass. Until one day Tsukasa came to collect him, saying they were moving, and it was time to go or father would be angry.
Then one night, Yoite’s family turned on him, instructed by their father to take a knife and cut at his throat. Only his youngest brother hesitated, then refused to do it, and in that moment, Yoite took the chance to run, fleeing with his throat bleeding. Running barefooted through the streets, Yoite finally collapsed in his own blood and was near death until Hattori found him, and recognizing an opportunity, took the child to the kairoshu headquarters to be healed.
Once he had healed, Hattori approached the boy, hiding behind the curtain and saying he wanted to disappear. Hattori thus manipulated him, saying he could grant the boy’s wish, if he agreed to take the power of kira. Unknowing the fate of a kira user, Yoite agreed, and thus learned the forbidden ninjutsu.
Approximately 2 years later, when Yoite was 16, he was brought to Yukimi’s, and put into his care, the man acting as his handler for missions. Yoite barely spoke, just sat in the corner, curled up in a ball as Yukimi worked at his desk.
| PERSONALITY:
Personality:
Yoite has a silent nature, exuding a clear desire to be left alone to retreat within himself, curled up in a ball on the floor. There are several times where Yukimi attempts to ask him questions, and Yoite simply does not answer, and most of the time refuses to even look at him, keeping his face hidden beneath the brim of his hat and against his knees.
He is also very childlike, both in appearance and actions, despite the fact that he is actually 16. Fearful, shy, and skittish after the years of abuse and now faced with the fate of dying because of kira. He has shifted from timid but curious Sora, to a boy who wants nothing to do with anyone or anything in this world.
He wants only to never have existed.
Yet in his silent, shy manner, he is also quite stubborn, giving Yukimi several difficulties in handling him. It is seen later, as Yoite grows more comfortable in Yukimi’s presence, that he actually requests that Yukimi cut his hair, but of course, only if he doesn’t touch it in the process.
Yukimi describes Yoite as an entity that could emerge from darkness and retreat back into it without a trace, silent like a wind, which becomes part of the inspiration for his future name “Yoite,” or “night wind”. This also happened to be the name of a cat Yukimi had long ago.
| POWERS & ABILITIES:
Kira: it is not explicitly stated how long Yoite has had kira at this point, but he is given the kira scroll around the age of 14, right after Hattori saved him, dying in the street. It is my headcanon that he has had it for approximately a year, give or take a few months, and that he has only been handed over to Yukimi now that he’s been deemed fit to put it to use on missions.
Kira itself is a forbidden ninjutsu that is powered by the user’s life force, effectively eating them from the inside out until they they lose all their senses, and ultimately turn to dust. Kira is also irreversible, and once it is used, it doesn’t matter if the user never uses it again or not, their life will still flow out of them in the form of kira, and they will die.
Kira allows the user to kill a person from the inside out, twisting their bones and organs, even splitting them in half or rupture violently. It is activated by the pointing of a finger, and thus aiming and shooting the user’s own lifeforce into the victim like a gun shoots a bullet. The user is also capable of leaving pieces of his lifeforce in his victims, and should he die, they would die with him.
| ECONOMIC STANDING, EQUIPMENT & PETS:
Yoite will be arriving only with the clothes on his back. Throughout canon he is only ever seen to use kira in fighting (along with physical attacks such as kicks/punches, etc.) thus suggesting that he doesn’t carry any form of weaponry such as blades or guns. He will, however, have his medication in his pocket.
